What personal info do I need when applying in person or filling it out online?

To verify and start the utilities in your name we need:

  • A valid Driver's License
  • A form of Social Security Number (Social Security card, tax document, W2)
  • Renters: A copy of your lease & deposit (amount varies on the address)
  • Homeowners: Copy of your deed or any closing documents & deposit (unless you have had good credit with any previous utility in the last 12 months, you can submit a letter of credit)

Call us at 919-553-5002 to verify if we service your address, and if we do, what service(s) we offer.

The town provides services to residents and businesses within town limits. Some areas of the town do not receive all the services. You may need to contract with other companies such as:

  • Piedmont Natural Gas: 1-877-279-3636
  • Johnston County Utilities: 919-989-5075

Moving out of the Town of Clayton and needing to disconnect service?

If you need to stop services in your name and close your account, you can fill this application out and email into utilities@townofclaytonnc.org.

Moving to a new address in town and needing to transfer utilities?
